Central Oregon Coast

At the coast you can watch magnificent sunsets, take long walks on the beach, build sand castles, and in the winter watch the powerful storms, but if you are looking for other things to fill your day here are some of our favorite things to see & do.

Beach Combing - Just steps from the hotel you'll find some of the best beach combing on the Oregon Coast. We are adjacent to Fogarty Creek State Park. The creek flows through our beach into the ocean which creates great tide pools and rocks for exploring.

Whale Watching - Depoe Bay is the official Whale Watching Capital of the Oregon Coast. Magnificent Gray Wales can be seen year round off our shore. They travel south in the fall to calve in warmer waters and north in the spring to the feeding grounds. The prime whale watching season is November - April. To get an even closer look at the whales take a Tradewinds Whale Watching Cruise from Depoe Bay. If you've never had the experience of a boat ride in the Pacific or if you've never seen a gray whale up close this is something you can't miss.

Glass Foundry - The Lincoln City Glass Foundry locatd in the historic Taft District of Lincoln City offers free glassblowing demonstrations Wednesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Classes in the glass arts are also available.

Oregon Coast Aquarium - Travel south to Newport and go to a world renown aquarium. Voted one of the 10 best aquariums in the country by Parade magazine. Both adults and children will enjoy the aquarium with its many different creatures and all the educational information provided. We like the seals and the jelly fish the best. The aquarium is open all year round, ask us about hours & admission costs or go to www.aquarium.org.

Kite Flying - "D" River Wayside in Lincoln City was voted the "Kite Capital of the World". Come to the Fall Kite Festival in October. Our location on the 45th parallel gives us steady winds perfect for flying a kite.

Shopping - Walk the streets of Depoe Bay and check out the funky beach shops, go to Lincoln City and shop the largest outlet mall in Oregon, or go to Salishan Market Place for unique shopping without the hustle and bustle.

Galleries - Explore the many unique galleries in Lincoln City. Begin with the gallery at Salishan Marketplace which is just down the road.

World Class Golf - We are only three miles from the world class Salishan Golf Course. Play 9 or 18 holes from 7 a.m. to dusk everyday (weather permitting). What could be better than a game of golf at the beach.

Surfing - For the more adventurous at heart take a surfing lesson from one of our local surfing shops. During April & May some of the best surfing on the Oregon Coast is right off our shores. Don't forget to rent a wet suit the water is chilly!

Casino & Convention Center - If you are feeling lucky you can try your hand at the casino in Lincoln City or maybe go to one of their special events or concerts.

Restaurants - One of our favorite things to do is eat. We have a wonderful oceanfront steak and seafood restaurant, but if you're in the mood for something else just ask us and we'll give you our recommendations.
